Its Ok To Treat Yourself

If you read my blog often or know me in real life you will know that I purchase things frequently and am constantly shopping. I usually never go more than a few days without treating myself to something, whether that be a new t-shirt or even something that has caught my eye in the supermarket.

However, over the past few months whilst transitioning between jobs I seriously had to stop the spending and manage my money whilst waiting for my new pay packet, but when that landed in my bank account I went slightly wild.

For years and years since I was about 17 I have wanted 2 specific handbags, one is by Prada and is a gorgeous mid grey, structured, top-handle beauty and the other was a Louis Vuitton Speedy in the classic damier aben check.

You can see where this is going cant you?

I would like to say I purchased both, but as the Prada bag comes with a £2,500 price tag I can safely say that I will never spend that on a handbag, so that one will always stay as a dream.

The Louis Vuitton Speedy has stolen my heart, I ordered it on Sunday and had it in my hands by Wednesday and I have not put it down since.

As well as treating myself to my bag, I bought a few other bits and bobs when I got paid including some goodies from Beauty Bay after hearing good things about some products -
RCMA Powder, Morphe Eyeshadow Palette, LA Girl primer and foundation.

Ever since I purchased these products I have used them all daily and so far so good and let me tell you, the RCMA Powder is a GAME CHANGER! My makeup stays put and i don't look greasy after a few hours which is great.

I also got some new panties, because we all know that nothing beats some fresh underwear. I got a few pairs from Calvin Klein and Victorias Secret, I love thick banded thongs and these brands have got it on lock, comfortable and stylish so whats not to love?

Now I have had a bit of a blow out I think I'm good, but I can't wait to visit Cheshire Oaks the beginning of next month and see what designer bargains I can find and share with all my lovely readers.

As pay day is upon us (AT LAST!) I thought I would share with you some of the things that I am lusting over and hopefully will be buying when the money drops into my account.

It has been too long since I had a proper pay packet due to switching jobs and I am literally buzzing to be able to get my shopping groove back.

Let me know what you will all be buying come pay day in the comments, on twitter (@charlibethbird) or even over on insta (@charli_beth)

Lets get Muddy!

This past weekend my family and I decided to do something a little different. As my Dad turned the big 50 we spent the whole weekend celebrating. He did not want a party so we had to come up with something that we could all do to celebrate, so we decided upon quad biking.

I myself have been once before, but no one else had touched a quad bike, so it was definitely an experience.

We decided upon quad biking in Malvern, using a company called Action Adventures. They specialise in Quad treks, axe throwing and shooting among many other activities and we had a BLAST! My mom created all the highlights, by hitting trees, bushes and getting stuck in the mud, but it honestly was great experience, which we all said we would gladly do again.

After the quad trek, we drove from Malvern to Stratford-Upon-Avon, where we had booked a night in the 4-star Stratford Manor Hotel. The hotel was lovely, with a pool, steam room and sauna (which myself and my boyfriend took full advantage of) and the in-house restaurant where we ate our evening meal was fantastic.

After such an action filled Saturday, we spent Sunday strolling around Stratford-Upon-Avon  drinking hot chocolate and looking at all the cute market stalls and having a wonder around the town.

I am sure my dad had a brilliant weekend celebrating his 50th birthday and I know we would gladly do it all over again, and have just as much fun.

Workwear Lowdown

Around a month ago I started a new job based in an office and was thrown completely out of my comfort zone when faced with the concept of workwear. The last time I had to wear 'smart wear' was in sixth form, 6 years ago! and as I'm sure many would agree, your style changes drastically between your teen years and your 20s, so what worked for me then would definitely not work for me now.

So, I have had to come up with my own style for the office and I would like to think I'm on my way to having it all figured out, but whilst shopping around for some outfits I came across loads of options which I thought I could style up and share with you all.

As you can see, all outfits are completely different in their own way, but more importantly all still appropriate for the workwear requirements of an office. There are a few pieces here that I am dying to buy and will be as soon as I get my first pay packet!

Waterproof Wonders

I have always loved make-up, although I cant say it always loved me (the extremely kohl lined eyes of 13 year old me were not ok!) Like fashion has it's trends so does make-up, but one thing that everyone talks about is a mascara that does what it says on the tube.

After years of buying into products promising lengthening, volumising, plumping, amplifying and all the other "ing's" you can think of a little gem appeared in my make-up bag a few months ago and nothing can beat it.

Ladies and Gentlemen I believe I have found my favourite mascara.

This little gem comes from AVON and is only £10 at full price, but I grabbed it on offer for £6 through the brochure from my local rep and as AVON always have deals and sales on it means you can get great products for an even better price.

This mascara has lasted through swimming pools, salty sea water, sweat and sand on holiday and also managed to last whilst I cried my eyes out more recently at my Nan's funeral. The last thing I wanted was to look awful as well as feel it and honestly this brilliant product stayed in place all day long, no streaks, no black flaky bits NOTHING!

The brush applicator means the product applies evenly and I usually apply around 2 to 3 coats to achieve my desired look. One downside is that it does smell slightly glue-like when first applied, but once dry the smell disappears. Getting it off can also sometimes be tricky, but micellar water or oil has that covered.

You can get the mascara online here or see your local AVON rep as I did.

*This review is completely my own words and opinions with no affiliations to AVON*

Contour Chaos

Ok, so I may be exaggerating sightly with the title but EVERYONE who contours knows that there are so many products out there that it is a minefield with what is worth purchasing and what is only worthy of the bin.

So, I thought I would share some of the products I have bought recently (and an old favourite) with you. Each of these items i have tried for a full week each and the difference between them is quite large.

The products I have chosen are all contour products - 2 cream sticks and 2 powder palettes. The prices of the products range from a mere £2.50 up to £37, which is quite a difference but read on to find out what i thought of each item.

Starting with the cream contour sticks I first purchased the Maybelline Master contour stick (£7.99) and was surprised how easy the product went on and helped create a natural daytime look. The cons of this product are definitely that the colours on top start mixing after the first few uses and i did end up with a smudgy highlight due to the colour leak from the contour sneaking in, But as long as you blended the end result was pretty good.

Secondly I purchased the W7 contour stick as I wanted a comparison for the Maybelline contour stick. firstly the price is MEGA CHEAP at only £2.50 I did debate if it was even worth buying, but for that price I was willing to give it a go.
I am honestly surprised by this product, it applies and blends out well helping to create a glowing look and it looks great when first applied. Over a few hours it starts to feel slightly cakey and you can see slight oxidation, but i wouldn't say this is too off putting as it is only £2.50.

Now to the powder palettes

This Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette is my latest purchase and honestly it has stolen my heart. At £37 it is quite up there in price, but I think it is totally worth it. The colours are pigmented and wear great throughout the day, the only issue is the fall out which is quite alot, but you don't need much on the brush at all.

Last but not least is the make-up revolution ultra contour palette  at £8 it is a great price and as you can see from the picture I have used it quite alot and this is my second one of these palettes. I don't have much bad to say about this product except it does need touching up part way through the day, but in general for £8 you cant go wrong.

All in all, i think all of these products are pretty decent, but if I had to choose I would go for the make-up revolution palette time and time again.

If you've used or tried any of these products let me know in the comments, id love to hear

Are You Ok?

Sometimes when I am contacted by a company to create a post on their behalf I am just not feeling it. before I post I have to be completely satisfied that the post will fit in with my usual topics and also with what i believe.

Due to this, when I was contacted with the 'Are You Ok?' campaign I could not say no.

'Are You Ok?' by Thortful aims at shining a spotlight on mental health and giving people the chance to reach out and ask for help.

The card company has teamed up with Gary James McQueen (nephew of the late Alexander McQueen) to create a series of cards encapsulating the concepts of life, death and rebirth.

Gary himself has suffered from Depression and anxiety in the past and wants to spread the love with his card collection.

The cards are priced at £2.99 each and can be purchased from

100% of the profits go to charity 'Chasing The Stigma' who work to normalise and humanise mental illness.

Many people suffer with mental illnesses during their lifetime and depression is a big one. People close to myself have suffered and do suffer with it daily and having people around them willing to help and try to brighten up their day is brilliant support.

Another Zaful Post

Over the past couple of months i have worked with Zaful on a few posts and collabs and they recently sent me some goodies and i thought i would share them with you.

Alot of people don't rate overseas companies and see them as a bit 'dodgy' but Zaful are definitely not.

The items do take slightly longer to arrive (between 2-4weeks) but so far, so good for me and i have not been disappointed in the slightest.

All items featured are available on their website, so take a nose because i was surprised at how good the quality was for such cheap of a price.

Cute right? I also got these unicorn inspired make-up brushes and brush cleaning pads

Everything here came in at under $50 which is fantastic, and like i said the quality is spot on considering the price.

Whatever your style i am sure you will find something on their site as it caters for everyone, so check them out for sure.
